LANGUAGE LEARNING AND VOCATIONAL MOBILITY IN EUROPE
Europe is to grow together. An appeal
that will become a reality if people of different cultures
get to know and understand each other. International encounters
and job placements abroad are an important contribution toward
European integration. Through vocational mobility young people
can gain new perspectives on the European labour market. However,
experience shows that comprehensive and intensive preparation
is necessary in order to provide the target groups with the
necessary self-confidence to be able to develop their personal
and professional perspectives in another culture and language.
Thus the promotion of language skills is especially crucial
for fostering communication and self-confidence. It this aspect
which the EURO PATHS project seeks to address.
PROPOSED PROJECT RESULTS
EURO PATHS aims to make language modules
available in the form of a digital learning program and learning
materials that are specifically designed to meet the basic
requirements of vocational training placements and, in particular,
to address both intercultural aspects and specific professional
and workplace content in order to ease the orientation to
the host country. In its pilot phase, the programme focuses
on the vocational fields of auto mechanics and systems mechanics
as well as on the "small languages" of DANISH and
FINNISH. According to stipulations of the "Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages," the participants
are to attain language skills at the levels A1 and A2, which
will be documented in a portfolio corresponding to the EUROPASS. |
